Norman Acklin (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Norman Griff Acklin, son of Griffie Frank and Dovie Effie Crawford Acklin, was born May 2, 1957, in Big Flat, Arkansas. He departed this life Monday, November 18, 2013, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-sixty years, six months, and sixteen days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jessie Acklin; a sister, Delphine Henderson; and four nephews, Travis Spence, Aaron Jennings, Gary Acklin, and James Larger.
Norman is survived by a son, Randy Acklin, of Lebanon, Missouri; two daughters, Trina Eliason, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Kayla Miller, and her husband, Craig, of Laquey, Missouri; six grandchildren, Shandelle Eliason, Keirsten, and Leighton Wells, Kelcie, Hailey, and Makenna Miller; a brother, Gary Acklin, and his wife, Gayla, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Iva Pinkston, and her husband, Charles, Debbie Jennings, and her husband, Rodney, and Frances Moody, and her husband, Dennis, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Calico Rock, Arkansas, and attended school in Big Flat, Arkansas. After a few years, he moved to Kansas to work in the oil fields for seven years. He then made his home in Missouri for awhile, returning to Kansas and back to Missouri, and eventually settled in Lebanon, Missouri.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He also liked working in his yard, and doing automobile repairs. He loved animals and greatly enjoyed his dog, “George”. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Norman was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
