Norman Banks' Obituary
Norman Hueston Orlie Banks, son of Lemuel Hueston and Mary Bell (Brown) Banks, was born March 27, 1921 in Stonewall, Arkansas. He departed this life Sunday, October 4, 2009 in his home, in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, six months, and thirteen days.
On December 21, 1946 he was united in marriage to Lucy Maebell Smalls and together they have shared sixty-two wonderful years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Leonard Banks; and two sisters, Jean Lamoureux and Gwen Hosiner.
Norman is survived by his wife, Lucy Banks, of Seymour, Missouri; two daughters, Carol Anne Banks, of College Place, Washington, and Sheila Rhodes, and her husband, Travis, of Seymour, Missouri; three sons, Norman Dewight Banks, and his wife, Shirley, of Carson, California, Eddie Banks, and his wife, Debbie, of Wahoo, Nebraska, and Sterling Banks, and his wife, Diane, of Seymour, Missouri; three grandsons, Dustin Banks, and his wife, Echo, Scott Banks, and Norman Banks; four granddaughters, Melissa Roets, and her husband, Tom, Stacey Walter, Lynn Harris, and her husband, Shawn, and Angela Banks; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Narene Kelley, of Conroe, Texas; a brother-in-law, Jed Lamoureux, of Norwood, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Johnnie Banks, of Seymour, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
He was born and grew up in Arkansas, in 1971 he moved to Seymour, Missouri. He owned and operated the Conoco Station for many years and also delivered milk for Jo-Lynn Dairy.
He loved working on the farm and took pride in his garden. In his spare time enjoyed auto repair, collecting stamp and coins, being outdoors, boating and flying.
Norman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 8, 2009 in Holman-Howe Chapel, of Seymour, Missouri, burial will follow in Seymour Masonic Cemetery with full military honors provided by Webster County Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home.
