Norman Landon (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Norman Lloyd Landon, son of Jacob and Della M. Lewis Landon, was born December 24, 1927, in Somerville, New Jersey. He departed this life Friday, August 23, 2019, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, seven months, and thirty days.
On May 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Alberta Jean Rauf, and to his union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alberta, on February 20, 1977; three brothers, Walter, Arthur, and Joe Landon; and a sister, Dorothy Edgerton.
Norman is survived by a daughter, Norma Burkhart, and her husband, William, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Todd Landon, of Lebanon, Missouri; a granddaughter, Lynn McKnight, and her husband, Matt, of Lebanon, Missouri; a great-granddaughter, Addyson McKnight; a brother, Richard Landon, and his wife, Dorothy, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Christa Landon; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in New Jersey, and then joined the military when he was a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy for four years during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to New Jersey, and he and Alberta were soon married. They made their home in Hillsborough and lovingly raised their children. Norman worked for an asbestos piping company for many years. Once he retired, he and the children moved to the Sleeper community near Lebanon, Missouri.
Norman had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of a Lutheran church in New Jersey for many years.
In his spare time since retiring, he enjoyed raising cattle on his farm. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with his granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
Norman was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations to Claws and Paws of Lebanon may be made through the funeral home. No services are planned at this time.
