Norman Olsen (Hartville)'s Obituary
Norman William Olsen Sr. was born on March 29, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life October 23, 2017 in his home near Hartville, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.
On June 2, 1961 Norman was united in marriage to Nelma Rasbid and to this union three children were born.
Norman is preceded in death by his loving wife Nelma; and his parents, Norman and Eugenia Kolchenski Olsen.
He is survived by his three children, Norman Olsen Jr. and his wife Jeannette, Jim Olsen and his wife Tina, and Karen Olsen; six grandkids, Kelsey, Haley, Erika, and Clay Olsen, and Lindsay Boeddeker, and Amanda Nickerson; two great-grandchildren, Dillon and Maggie; and many caring friends.
Norman was born near Chicago, and spent all his childhood there. When he finished with his schooling he started the Olsen Brothers Furniture Moving Company in Chicago and drove the truck from location to location. Later, he met Nelma and married her and together had three children. In 1973 they purchased a farm near Hartville. Norman started a dairy operation and took care of horses on the farm.
Norman enjoyed working with his horses on the farm and spending time with his loving family. Working with his horses brought him and Nelma very close to one another. Norman also loved to go to the coffee shop and have spirited discussions about the world’s problems with all his friends. Norman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and caring friend. We celebrate his life and will always cherish the many happy memories he created with us.
