Norman Roy Fisher's Obituary
Norman Roy Fisher Sr., son of Elmer Wheshe and Margaret Mae (Carr) Fisher, was born January 11, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He departed this life Friday, June 15, 2007 in his home near Ava, Missouri at the age of fifty-six years, five months and four days. On December 28, 1974, Norman was united in marriage to Catherine Gail Dallas and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. He was preceded in death by his father. Norman is survived by his wife Catherine of the home; two sons, Norman Roy Fisher, Jr., of Sacramento, California and Robert S. Fisher, of Ava, Missouri; one daughter, Kimberly Allen and her husband, Michael, of Marshfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Alisha, Aaron, Ian, Joel, Robert Jr., Dakota, Tyler, Breanna and Aiden; his mother, Margaret Carr-Fisher, of Larksville, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Elmer Fisher, Jr. and his wife June, of Larksville, Pennsylvania, and Charles Fisher and his wife, Shelly, of the State of Michigan; two nieces, Annabelle Fisher, of the State of Michigan, and June W. Dobbs, of Larksville, Pennsylvania; two nephews, Elmer W. Fisher, III, of Larksville, Pennsylvania, and Charles C. Fisher Jr., of the State of New Jersey; as well as a number of other relatives and friends. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was raised in Browns Mills, New Jersey, where he graduated from Pemberton Township High School in 1968. In 1969, Norman entered into the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. Norman served in the Marine Corps until 1974. In September of 1974, Norman entered into the United States Army where he served until 1985. In 1987 he moved to California and worked as a sheriff’s deputy for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. In 1990, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas in Saudi Arabia until 1991. When his time in the service was finished, Norman continued to live in California where he worked as a security specialist for Barton Securities in Roseville, California until 2004, when he Catherine retired to the Seymour area. In 2006, they moved to Ava to make their home. Norman had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church. On December 26, 2005 he and Catherine renewed their wedding vows, professing their never ending love and devotion to each other. In his spare time, Norman enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was also an avid wrestling fan, never missing an opportunity to watch it on TV. Norman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in the Seymour United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Memorials may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
