Norryn Teters' Obituary
Norryn H. Teters, ae 96 of Bolivar, passed away at 12:04 PM Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar after a lingering illness. Norryn was born on July 24, 1912 near Halfway, MO the daughter of Albert Washington Glover and Ada Salone (Higginbotham) Glover. Norryn started her career out as a high school teacher after receiving her degree from Drury University with a double major in Music and English and her teaching certification from SMS. She always enjoyed traveling, however. This began when as a teenager in the 1920's she and her female cousin traveled by train to Chicago, Illinois for a shopping spree centered around Marshall Fields famous store on the well known Miracle Mile on Michigan Avenue. Later she, her husband Tiffin, and her three young children made numerous trips in the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's through Canada, the Rocky Mountains and the Southwest to Southern California where they visited many relatives. In the 1960's and early 1970's she and Tiffin made trips aound the world spending a great deal of time in the Far East and ultimately visiting 5 of the 7 continents. Her last trip was to Australia. She also visited Alaska and spent a great deal of time in Texas. She was a devoted family person spending time at many family get-togethers around holidays and at Pomme De Terre Lake in the summers. At these get-togethers she was able to cook delicious dishes which was one of her great talents. Another talent was her accomplishments on the piano and cello. She often played for groups, especially the Eastern Star Lodge of which she was a member. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, the Bolivar Music Club and two Bolivar Bridge Clubs. She was an excellent homemaker and worked side by side with her husband Tiffin in the Teters Nursery & Florist which was started by Tiffin's father Roy Teters Sr. and in establishing the most successful artificial flower company in the world, Teters Floral Products. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, H. Tiffin Teters; three brothers, Kenneth, Dale & Max Glover; and a grandchild, Colton Briggle. She is survived by her son, Henry T. Teters and wife Gail of Bolivar, MO; two daughters, Nancy Blackwell of Bolivar and Mary Teters Briggle and husband Michael of Austin, TX. 5 Grandchildren, Mark Payne & Wife Janelle, Jamie Payne, Tiffany Blackwell, Paxton Briggle and wife Tracie, Hayden Briggle, 3 Great Grandchildren, Natalie Payne, Brayden Payne and wife Brittanie, Paxton H. Briggle, and 1 Great Great Grandson, Brody Payne. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009 from 6-7 PM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Russell officiating. Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace”, “In The Garden” and “The Lord’s Prayer. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
