Novella N Carney's Obituary
Nundice “Novella” Carney, daughter of Hosea and Stella (Hickman) Young, was born July 6, 1916, in Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, December 8, 2008, in Hartville Care Center, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, four months, and two days. On December 25, 1934, she was united in marriage to James McClaren “Champ” Carney and to this union one son was born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Champ, on May 15, 2004; her parents; a brother, Vance Young; and two infant siblings. Novella is survived by one son, Gary Carney, and his wife, Bert, of Independence, Missouri; a grandson, Alan Carney, and his wife, Jennifer, of Kansas City, Missouri; a granddaughter, Jonna Carney, of Kansas City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Adam Bozarth, Carl Carney and Emily Carney; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. She was born and raised in Hartville and helped the family on the farm and was very eager to help take care of her grandparents. She worked at Hartville Schools for twenty years as a cook. While living in the Hartville Care Center, she and Champ were crowned Sweetheart King and Queen in 2004 and she was also crowned Queen of the Nursing Home Pageant. Novella had made her profession of faith in Christ and was baptized at Pleasant Hill Church and attended Little Creek Church; she also enjoyed attending the church services at the care center. She was a people person and loved cooking for her family and friends. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing cards with her friends and spending time in the garden, she also enjoyed all the activities while in the care center, especially Bingo. Novella was a kind person with a big heart, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and dear friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday December 12, 2008 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Hartville. Burial will be in the Steele Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00pm until service time under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Missouri. A memroial has been established to the Hartville Senior Citizens Center or the Hartville Care Center. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
