Novella Tanner's Obituary
Novella Tanner, daughter of Bennie and Emmer (Dunn) Carr, was born October 25, 1925, in Bessie, Arkansas. She departed this life Saturday, January 27, 2007, in the Glenwood Health Care Center, in Seymour, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years, three months, and two days. On March 12, 1945, Novella was united in marriage to William Alden Tanner and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, on March 31, 1987; one son, Junior Tanner; as well as a brother, W.M. Carr. Novella is survived by one son, William Tanner, of Mansfield, Missouri; two brothers, Alden James Carr and his wife, Mary, and Bennie Carr, all of Jericho Springs, Missouri; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Arkansas, where she met and married William “Bill” Tanner. They then lived in Strafford, Aurora, and Everton before making their home in Mansfield. In her earlier years, Novella had attended church at the Assembly of God. In her spare time, Novella enjoyed quilting, sewing, making beautiful pillow cases, and oil painting, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Novella was a loving mother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
