Oka Doyel (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Oka Rena Doyel, daughter of Wesley W. and Virgie E. Dennis Fry, was born November 8, 1925 near Mansfield, Missouri and departed this life on August 25, 2014 in Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months and seventeen days.
On October 24, 1947 she was united in marriage to Melvin Charles Doyel, and to this union two children were born. Melvin preceded her in death on June 11, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dennis, four sisters, Jane, Fern, Mae and her twin, Opal.
Oka is survived by her daughter, Pam Harris of Republic, Missouri; her son, Charles “Chuck” Doyel and his wife, Lea of Chesterfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Dawn Wright and her husband, Joe, Ryan Doyel and his wife, Jessica, Dustin Lansdown and his wife, Heather and Rachelle Johnson and her husband, Dennis; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bobby R. Goss as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was born near Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1945. She was a homemaker most of her life, but had also worked at Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield for 10 years and at Rawlings in Ava. She lived all of her life in Mansfield, except during Melvin’s military career.
Oka had made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
In her spare time she liked to embroidery and crochet and was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Oka was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories we have had together.
