Ola Hyder's Obituary
Ola Agnes Hyder, daughter of Robert Ernest and Lottie Eunice (Denney) Scott, was born December 25, 1914 near Longrun in Ozark County, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, October 28, 2008, in her home, in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years, ten months, and three days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira A. Hyder, on August 24, 1971; an infant child; her parents; and four brothers, Clifton Scott, Herman Scott, George Gordon Miller, and Everett Scott.
Ola is survived by her six children, Harold Scott, and his wife, Joyce, of Seymour, Missouri, Ronnie Scott, and his wife, Carol, of Springfield, Missouri, Sandra McNish, and her husband, Bill, of Buffalo, Missouri, Jimmie Hyder, and his wife, Venita, of Seymour, Missouri, Dennis Hyder, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Sheryl Hyder, of the home; fourteen grandchildren, Cristy, Clay, Cyndi, Brent, Barry, Brad, Tamara, Jack, Debra, Becky, Shawnya, Cindy, Susan, Kathy, and April; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ezra Scott, of Seymour, Missouri; a sister, Loretta Milligan, of Garnett, Kansas; two sisters-in-law, Lorene Stogsdill, of Springfield, Missouri, and Dorothy Scott, of Seymour, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She has lived in Seymour most of her life and was a graduate of Seymour High School, in the class of 1933, where she participated in many sports and especially enjoyed tennis. She was able to attend the Alumni Banquet in 2008 for her 75th graduation anniversary and proudly received a plaque for being the oldest attending alumni at the banquet.
Besides being a devoted homemaker she had also cleaned homes for people in the community.
Ola had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of New Hope Assembly of God Church in Seymour. She was very active in the church and had served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years.
In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family, doing yard work, and loved bird watching.
Ola was a kind and caring person with a big heart. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for family and friends.
Funeral services for Ola Hyder will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2008 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour. Burial will follow in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home.
