Ole Dean Engelson (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Ole Dean Engelson, son of Ole and Gerda Dahlen Engelson, was born, August 20, 1934 in Niobrara, Nebraska. He departed this life, Monday, June 22, 2015, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty years, ten months and two days.
On December 15, 1956 in Yankton, South Dakota, he was united in marriage to Winona Adeline “Dollie” Stegman and to this union two sons were born. Together they shared fifty-seven years of marriage before her passing on January 18, 2014.
He was also preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his sons, Ole Engelson and wife Sheilah of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Ben Engelson of Camdenton, Missouri; three granddaughters, Cassie Dulaney, Jacquelyn Johnston and Erika Engelson; two great-grandsons, Wyatt Dulaney and Gannon Wade Dulaney; a brother, Richard Engelson and wife Marilyn of Creston, Iowa and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Ole was raised in Nebraska and graduated high school there. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He attended Norfolk Teachers College and UMKC for his Masters degree. He did research all over Nebraska and Colorado his teaching. Ole was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Scout Master for Boy Scouts. He loved owls and enjoyed watching hunting shows. He collected owl and geese figurines. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, especially white bass. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting Canadian geese.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
