Oma Jean Wisdom (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Oma Jean Wisdom departed this life at the age of 90 on December 29, 2023, at Hermitage Nursing Home in Hermitage, Missouri.
Oma is survived by her children, Arleta Uzzell and husband of Springfield, Missouri; Margo Evans of Long Lane, Missouri; Gary Wisdom and wife of Buffalo, Missouri; Guy Wisdom of Urbana, Missouri; her brother, Paul Smith and wife of McKinleyville, California; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Oma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, A. H. “Bun” Wisdom; her brothers, Gordon Smith and Joseph Smith; 2 grandchildren, Jesse Beall and Amanda Hance (nee Wisdom); and two step-sons, Arley Wisdom and Thomas Wisdom.
Oma was born on October 14, 1933, in Tioga, Texas. She was raised in Carmichael, California and graduated from San Juan High School in 1950. She married Bun on November 4, 1951. They moved to Missouri in 1957 where they both worked several jobs and even owned a grocery store, “xx.” Together, Oma and Bun, farmed several acres and had lots of hogs, cows, horses, and chickens.
Oma loved gardening and planting flowers. She also loved taking photographs and showing off her albums. One of her favorite sayings was “making memories.” Her and Bun traveled to Dade City, Florida over several winters. They enjoyed many friendships there.
Oma was a spiritual lady and always had her Bible. She was a member of New Beginnings Apostolic Church of Louisburg, Missouri. She will be missed by a host of family and friends.
A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Cantlon-Otterness-Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri. A burial service will follow at the Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
