Opal V. Farner, daughter of Sylvester and Tina Velma Wrinkle Chambers, was born February 18, 1922, in Laclede County, Missouri. She went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 11, 2010, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, and twenty-three days. On June 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald J. Farner, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Dale Chambers, and an infant, Robert Chambers. Opal is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Don, of the home; a daughter, Suzanne Andreas, and her husband, Dr. John Andreas, of St. Louis; three sons, Steven Farner, of Lebanon, Missouri, Mark Farner, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bruce Farner, and his wife, Kelly, of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dr. Staci Neimoth, and her husband, Mike, Lindsey Casey, and her husband, Joe, all of Springfield, Missouri, Brett Farner, of Lebanon, Missouri, Dr. Lauren Andreas, of Denver, Colorado, and Mark Andreas, of Fort Collins, Colorado; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mavis Chambers, of Springfield, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in Laclede County, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1940, after becoming Homecoming Queen. Following her graduation, she was employed as the buyer for Casey’s Clothing Store, before accepting a position with Reed’s Jewelry Store. After she and Don were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and Opal’s full time profession was that of wife and mother. She truly was an inspiration with her style, grace and impeccable taste in this role. Opal accepted Christ on April 24, 1957, and was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. She was an active member of the Wesleyan Service Guild and Tuesday Bible Study. She loved flowers and was a passionate participant in the Green Thumb Garden Club, serving as their president on three separate occasions. Always the adventurer, she thoroughly enjoyed traveling. She was a trooper that explored everything the world had to offer. She was a huge Missouri Tigers football and basketball fan, and loyally followed the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all she loved the time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Opal was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday March 15, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.
