Opal Jean Stewart (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Opal Jean (Lauby) Stewart was born in Kingman, Kansas to Ernest and Pearl (Waters) Lauby on November 22, 1926. She passed away at the age of 93 on July 13, 2020 at Colonial Springs Healthcare Center in Buffalo, Missouri.
Opal Jean moved to Missouri with her grandparents in 1939 and attended school in Goodson, Missouri. She met and married the love of her life Herbert Stewart Sr. in 1946. They made their home in Bolivar, Missouri.
In 1954 Opal Jean and Herb moved to Rimby to start their country home. Herb hauled milk for the local dairy farmers and Opal was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. To this union three sons were born: Herbert Jr., Gary, and James.
Opal Jean was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Sr., son Gary, father Ernest, mother Pearl and grandparents Mattie and John.
She is survived by her sons: Herbert Jr. and wife Linda, James and wife Ann, and Gary’s wife Anita. There are six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Opal Jean was a mother, grandmother and best friend to many more. May she rest in piece.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, July 20, 2020 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri with Rev. Rex Warren officiating with burial to follow in the Star Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Stewart, Howie Stewart, Amanda Battles, Colleen Jarzombek, Kevin Sharpe, Jimmy Sweaney, and Mike Maack. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Banderhorst, and Jerry Shadwick under the direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Monday, July 20, 2020 in the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital.
