Orin Rogers' Obituary
Orin Greenberry Rogers, son of Sherman C. and Amy J. Rector Rogers, was born October 24, 1927, near Roach, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, November 10, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, and sixteen days. On September 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Enzia Wyatt, and together they shared fifty years before her passing on January 5, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Beverly Jean; and a stepson, Billy Rogers, Sr. Orin is survived by a daughter, Lenora Colleen Cummins, and her husband, Bob, of Sedalia, Missouri; a number of stepchildren; ten grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; thirty great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Bennett Spring community, and then served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War. He and Genevieve made their home in Oklahoma, Indiana, California, and Washington State, and later returned to the Lebanon area. Throughout his life Orin worked as an automobile body repairman, and while living in California he had the opportunity to repair “Batman’s” car. Orin was a Pentecostal minister and had pastored the Scout House Church in Camdenton and Thomas Chapel Church, near Lebanon. He was currently a member of Lighthouse Ministries in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, and doing oil paintings. He also liked working in his garden as long as his health allowed. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Orin was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the memories he made for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m on Friday November 13, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m until time of service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
