Orvel Massey's Obituary
Orvel Lee Massey, Jr., son of Orvel R. and Florence I. Berry Massey, was born July 22, 1946, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, February 20, 2010, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-three years, six months, and twenty-eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Curtis, Charles, and Don Massey; and three sisters, Bonnie Reeves, Norma Massey, and Flory Puttman. Orvel is survived by two daughters, Angie Shivers, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Ellen Sadler, of Stoutland, Missouri; a son, Randy Massey, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren; two brothers, Marion Massey, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Chester Massey, and his wife, Rose, of Marion, North Carolina; four sisters, Ruth Porter, and her husband, David, Alma Detherage, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Nola Porter, and her husband, Bill, of the State of Tennessee, and Marilyn McCallister, and her husband, Gary, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon area. As a young man, he served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Orvel continued to make his home in the Lebanon area and worked as a truck driver for most of his life. In his spare time he liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He greatly enjoyed being with his friends and family and liked to talk and tell stories. He also enjoyed repairing old cars. Orvel will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday February 26, 2010 at the Glad Tidings Tabernacle Church. Visitation will follow service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
