Oscar Lorenz's Obituary
Oscar Dale Lorenz, son of Siegfried E. and Edith M. (Cook) Lorenz was born July 14, 1926 near Seymour, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years, eleven months, and nine days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tessie Hinds; a sister-in-law, Wanda Lorenz; a brother-in-law, Larry Hinds; and five nephews, Greg and Craig Cravens, Donnie and Ronnie Lorenz, and Jamie Sartin.
Oscar is survived by a brother, Wayne Lorenz of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a sister, Wanda Blankenship and her husband, Cecil, of Rogersville, Missouri; seven nephews, Randy, Garry, and Bill Lorenz, Brent Cravens, Larry, Mike, and Jeffery Sartin; five nieces, Jan Hunt, Judy Henderson, Joy Burk, Jennifer Myer, and JoElla Sartin; a number of great-nephews and great-nieces; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
He grew up in the Seymour area and spent most of his life there, except for a short time that he lived in California. He served with the United States Army in Germany and the Philippians during World War II. He was a retired carpenter, and he and Glen “Bo” Dickson built several homes in Webster County.
He had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was ready to make Heaven his eternal home.
Oscar loved visiting with his family and many friends, and enjoyed knife trading, sometimes traveling to different states to find that special knife. He also looked forward to the gardening season, when he could grow tomatoes and other garden vegetables to share with his friends and neighbors.
He especially enjoyed the outings that Ken Owens and Kenny Davis took him on during his stay at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour.
Oscar was very special to his family and many friends and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27, 2009 in Seymour Masonic Cemetery, under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, of Seymour, Missouri. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Seymour YMCA Pool Fund in care of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 366, Seymour, Missouri 65746.
