Otis Nichols, Jr. (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Otis Nichols, Jr. was born August 31, 1959 in Frankfort, Germany to Otis Nichols, Sr. and Betty June Meachum Nichols. He departed this life Friday, March 21, 2025 in Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri. He was sixty-five years, six months and twenty-one days of age.
Otis was raised in a military family and settled in Lebanon where he would graduate from Lebanon High School. He trained Fox Trotter horses before being employed at Tracker Boats as a welder for many years. Following his career at Tracker, he joined Detroit Tool. His career was cut short when he started having heart issues and was disabled.
Otis grew up in the United Methodist Church and was saved as a child.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Betty; Jimmy Hough, who was like a father to him; one son, Dante’; his sister, Kelly Nichols; a brother, Dwayne LaPort; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meachum.
Otis is survived by his wife, Belinda Nichols of the home; a daughter, Cortney Luten and her husband Clarence of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Eric Nichols of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Eric, Jr., Clanera, Cyrielle, Briley, Jayce, Takia and Anayah, Jaiden, Conner, Kyler; two sisters, Twanya Farmer of Detroit, Michigan and Rita Lewis of Florida; his mother-in-law, Diane Evans; and other relatives and friends.
Otis enjoyed fishing and cooking and loved to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs. He was known to have a good sense of humor and had a nickname for everyone. He loved his family and enjoyed being with people and making them laugh.
Otis loved and cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a caring neighbor and friend always tried to do the right thing. His passing is sad for his family and friends, but they will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made with them.
Services for Otis Nichols, Jr. will be Tuesday, March 25 at 5 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service
A memorial has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
