Pansy DeVasure (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Pansy Marie DeVasure, daughter of William “Willie” and Melissa “Mollie” Clemmons Vance, was born April 3, 1913, near Ira, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, December 23, 2016, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of one hundred three years, eight months, and twenty days.
On November 29, 1933, she was united in marriage to Madison Warren DeVasure, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. Pansy and Madison shared sixty-two years before his passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Madison, on June 25, 1996; two brothers, Lloyd and Virgil Vance; and three sisters, Edith Brackett, Geneva Atkinson, and an infant.
Pansy is survived by a son, Bill DeVasure, and his wife, Doris, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Joyce Jones, of Lebanon, Missouri; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters, one step-great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born near Ira, Missouri, and then moved with her family to Northern Missouri for a while, before returning to Lebanon. She graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1933. She and Madison had their first date on Christmas Eve and when he proposed to Pansy he asked, “Will you be mine forever?” Once she and Madison were married, they made their home on the family farm and lovingly raised their children. Through the years, Pansy was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family. After spending close to fifty years on the farm, Pansy and Madison retired and moved into Lebanon.
Pansy made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime, active member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She was a wonderful cook and was particularly known for her homemade cakes, pies, dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed doing needlepoint projects. She liked being on the go and was always ready to make a trip somewhere. She possessed a generous heart and had a great love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pansy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will remember all the special times she created for them during her one hundred and three years.
