Pat S Honssinger (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Patricia Sue Honssinger, daughter of Roy W. and Mary Krugg McNabney, was born August 21, 1931, in Coffeyville, Kansas. She departed this life November 26, 2014, at her home in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 5 days.
On February 28, 1954, she married John A. Honssinger. Their union was blessed with two daughters.
John preceded her in death on May 22, 1996; she was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sandra.
Pat grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas, and was a graduate of Coffeyville High School. She later graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Radio/Television and Film. She and John met at a University of Kansas/MU basketball game and were able to overcome the rivalry of the two schools to create a warm and gentle home for their family. She was always supportive of her husband, John, in his busy law practice. The family was active members of First United Methodist Church where Pat was involved in various areas of church life. For several years she volunteered in the church office and was a member of the Wesleyan Circle. She also was a member of the Lebanon Library Board and the Lebanon Concert Association Board of Directors
She was a dedicated member of P.E.O., the Libra Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American Association of University Women. She was widely known for her “book reviews” and was admired for her clever wit as she presented to various groups. She was also known for her gracious hospitality as she entertained in her home, always having the house decorated for the seasons and other festive occasions. Pat was an avid cook and loved sharing her baked goods with her many friends. She was very supportive of her children as they were in school and always willing to volunteer to support their school activities. Pat’s quiet faith in God radiated with each smile and she lived it each day with everyone she met. Her home and her family were central to her life. She had a heart for animals and enjoyed having family pets through the years. She was proud of her husband and both her daughters but never more than her constant modesty would allow.
Pat is survived by two daughters, Nancy Honssinger, Seattle, Washington, and Cynthia Coffman and her husband, Mike, of Denver, Colorado; a number of cousins; and her best friend of over 50 years, Hazel Deputy, of Lebanon, Missouri.
She lived her life to the fullest and always built others up as she made her way through life. Her influence will live on in the lives of her family and she will be fondly remembered as a gracious lady by everyone who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Lebanon Humane
Society, and left at the funeral home.
