Patricia E. Surrette (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Patricia E. Surrette, age 72 of Lebanon, Missouri, passed away in Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
She was born March 6, 1951 in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Edward Champion and Ilene P. Mills. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James Surrette and three brothers, Billy Holland, and her twin brothers, Thomas and Donald Holland.
Patricia is survived by her children, Ken Champion and Thomas Kern, both of Kansas City, Missouri, Chris Surrette of Burlington, British Columbia, Jennifer Dunlap of Burlington, British Columbia, and James Surrette of Alaska; her grandchildren, Dillion Dunlap, Brian Dunlap, Dakota Dunlap, Madison Dunlap, Joseph Dunlap, Haleigh Surrette Owens and Scott Surrette, all of British Columbia; a brother, Edward Champion of the state of Minnesota; and Janise Danielsen, her lifelong friend who was like a sister to her, of Kansas City, Missouri; and her friend, Chelsea Kirchberg of Lebanon, Missouri.
Patricia spent her early life in Michigan and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1969. While in high school, Patricia was an accomplished swimmer and holds the record at the school in backstroke. She also had a unique nickname in high school, as her friends called her “Cow Patty”.
In 1979, she moved to Pueblo, Colorado for six years and in 1985 she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she would meet her husband, James Surrette. They were married July 3, 1992.
Following her move to Lebanon, she worked for Missouri Department of Transportation and was one of the first participants in the Missouri Transportation Assist Program.
In her spare time, Patricia enjoyed playing online slot machines and gambling.
