Patsy Jorene Smith (Seymour)'s Obituary
Patsy Jorene (Gray) Smith of Seymour, MO, departed this fragile life for her eternal home on October 13, 2014 at the vibrant age of 77 years, 2 months and 9 days at Glenwood Healthcare Center in Seymour, MO.
Patsy was born in Fordland, MO to Joel C. Gray and Fannie S. Burkhart Gray on August 4, 1937. She married the love of her life, Thomas McDonald Smith on September 30, 1953 and to this blessed union 5 loving daughters and 3 devoted sons were born. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a devoted Christian mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending church, singing hymns, and studying the Bible. She could quote many scriptures verses she had memorized throughout her life.
Patsy is survived by her 8 children; Helen and David Philpott of Seymour, Harriett and Larry Pierson of Ava, Floyd (Bud) and Carole Smith of Woodward, OK, Wanda and David Holloway of Springfield, Lloyd and Tammy Smith of Woodward, OK, Donald (Don) and Mia Smith of Marshfield, Kathy and Michael Maze of Springfield, and Tammy and Brian Baird of Fordland, MO; 11 grandchildren, Alyssa and Joey Plummer, Kiowa Smith, Brandon and Chassity Smith, Kylee and Garrett Cather, Tommy Smith, Landon Smith, Katelyn and Tabitha Maze, Owen, Karson and Graycen Baird; and 3 great grandchildren, Harper and Stratton Cather, and Keeleigh Plummer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas McDonald Smith on March 20, 1991 and her parents Joel C. and Fannie S. Gray.
Patsy was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She had a vivid memory and could entertain all of them with her contagious laugh and sparkling eyes as she recalled events that most had forgotten.
Patsy enjoyed the companionship of her friends and the staff at Glenwood Healthcare participating in crafts, playing bingo, getting her nails polished and attending weekly bible study and worship services. She loved getting her hair done, and you never knew if she would be a brunette, redhead, or blonde when she arrived at family gatherings. She loved glitzy jewelry, especially rings and would often wear one on each finger.
