After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to the Conway area and then also made his home in Kansas City. Throughout the years, he worked as a truck driver for various companies and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Paul retired from Roadway Express in April of 2002. In his spare time he greatly enjoyed hunting, and taught his son to be a good hunter also. In his retirement years, he liked to do trap shooting, and travel in his fifth wheel trailer. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
