Paul Alan Mott (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Paul Alan Mott died August 2, 2014 at the age of 86, after an extended illness.
Paul was born on April 11, 1928, in Manes, Missouri to Fred H. and Dorothy Cantrell Mott. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in Mountain Grove, Missouri in 1946 and from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Class of 1950. He married Martha Carolyn Mustain on June 9, 1950 and was married to her for 64 years.
In college, Paul sang in the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Glee Club and the University Mixed Quartet. For 19 years he sang Messiah in Lindsborg, Kansas, with the Bethany Oratorio Society. He was a volunteer director of church choirs for eighteen years in two Southern Baptist Churches in Salina, Kansas. He also served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Salina Civic Orchestra.
Mr. Mott was a senior partner in Kennedy and Coe, Certified Public Accountants, Salina, Kansas, a three-state regional firm, where he was partner-in-charge of the Auditing Division. He was a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants and served on the Board of Directors, Kansas Society of CPA’a where he was Chairman of the State Ethics Committee.
Mr. Mott was also Vice President of Mid-Continent Investment Compay, Inc. and Vice President of the Laybourn Foundation, Inc. His civic positions included the Board of directors of the Salina, Kansas YMCA and the City of Salina Zoning Board.
Paul was a former member of the National Advisory Board for Oklahoma Baptist University Board of Regents and Endowment Investment Committee.
Paul was a member of First Baptist Church, Bolivar, Missouri. He served in many positions in Salina Baptist Churches, including Chairman of Deacons and Chairman of Finance Commitees.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Fred H. and Dorothy E. Mott; three brothers and three sisters; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Warren and Timothy David Warren; and great-grandchildren, Halley Rae Livers and Porter Hemingway Livers.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mott; his daughter, Paula Hemingway and husband, Mark, of Denton, Texas, Teresa Kendall and husband, Ray of Springfield, Missouri, Dana Warren and husband, Bill, of Wichita, Kansas, and Anita Robidou and husband, Robert, of Trophy Club, Texas; grandchildren, Marla (Hemingway) Livers, Jessica (Hemingway) Ramsey, David Hemingway, Daniel Hemingway, John Hemingway, Laura Hemingway, Mitch Kendall, Jay Kendall, Carody (Kendall) Bell, Andrew Warren, Bruce Robidou, and Jeffrey Robidou; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Pauline Cummins of Marthasville, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
