Paul Ivan Smith, son of Dean and Clara Heskett Smith, was born April 19, 1938 in Braggadocio, Missouri and departed this life on September 24, 2014 at his home in Mansfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years, five months, and five days
In 1956, he was united in marriage Margaret Presson and to this union two sons were born.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jean of the home; two sons, Randy Smith and his wife Patti, of Ballwin, Missouri and Steven Smith and his wife Maria, of Puxico, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nathan Smith of Ballwin, Missouri, Jason Smith of Advance, Missouri and Jamie Smith of Marble Hill, Missouri; two sisters, Deana Caldwell of Wentzville, Missouri and Donna Happe of House Springs, Missouri as well as other relatives and many friends.
He was born in Missouri and moved to Decatur, Illinois with his parents at a young age. Paul moved to St. Louis and worked as manager at Sears from 1960 until 1976. He operated a farm and ran a bar in Marble Hill, Missouri from 1976 until 1989 and then moved to Ozark, Missouri where he worked for Firestone Tire in Springfield and also worked as a service advisor for the Ozark Chrysler-Dodge Automotive Dealership before moving to Hartville, Missouri in 1994.
In 2004 he married Jean Wallace. Paul owned and operated the Johnson Motor Company in Mansfield from 2005 until 2011. Since 2007, Paul and Jean have made their home in Mansfield, Missouri.
Paul was raised Catholic, but in his later years had attended Mansfield Christian Church.
He was a huge Nascar fan and enjoyed watching races any time he could. Although his physical abilities became limited, his mind was always as sharp as a tack and we are grateful for that.
Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will always cherish the many good times we had with him.
