Paul Triplett's Obituary
Paul Jones Triplett, son of Lloyd Audie and Savannah Amanda Jones Triplett, was born December 14, 1911, in Webster County, Missouri, near Rogersville, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, December 11, 2008, in Glenwood Healthcare, Seymour, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years, eleven months, and twenty-seven days. On October 21, 1939, Paul was united in marriage to Edna Doris Scott and to this union two daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Edna, on August 21, 1995; and an infant sister. Paul is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Cotton and her husband, Jack, of Battlefield, Missouri, and Shirley Lowe and her husband, Bob, of Niangua, Missouri; two grandchildren, Michael Cotton and his wife, Marlena, and Jacqueline Cotton, all of Springfield, Missouri; a niece, Beverly Brown, of Springfield, Missouri; other relatives, and a host of very dear friends. He was born near Rogersville and moved to Seymour in 1947 where he operated a dairy farm and later a stock cattle farm. In 1954, Paul went to work for Bergman-Miller Funeral Home, and faithfully served the communities of Seymour, Mansfield, and Hartville as a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over fifty years, working for Bergman-Miller Funeral Homes, Bogart-Bergman-Miller Funeral Homes, and Holman-Howe Funeral Homes, retiring in 2006. Paul was the oldest living member of the Seymour First Baptist Church; he was a Lifetime member of the Seymour Lions Club, where he also served as a licensed Sterile Eye Enucleator for many years; and was also a member of the Hazelwood Masonic Lodge #459 AF & AM, in Seymour, Scottish Rite Valley of Joplin, the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield where he was a member of the Past Masters, and the Christian County Shrine Club. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed gardening and loved to do various things for his friends, replacing tool handles, sharpening lawn mower blades, plowing gardens, and helping the Lions Club and Seymour Merchants Association during the Apple Festival. Paul got special pleasure in going to the Shrine events and being a part of the Christian County Cook Crew. He loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He counted his family and many friends as God’s special gift to him. Paul was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his long life and his many wonderful accomplishments. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday December 14, 2008 at the Holman-Howe funeral home in Seymour.Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening 5-7:00 pm at the funeral home with Masonic servcies starting at 5:00 pm under the direction of the Holman- Howe funeral home Seymour, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Hazelwood Masonic Lodge or the Seymour First Baptist Church. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
