Paul C. Zachmeyer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Paul Cornelius Zachmeyer, son of Lester and Mary Kienholz Zachmeyer, was born August 9, 1930, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He departed this life Sunday, October 7, 2018, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, one month, and thirty days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Lois and Violet Zachmeyer; a brother, Richard Zachmeyer; and two sisters, Virginia Zachmeyer, and Loretta Keller.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Mary Taylor, and her husband, Dave, of Weatherford, Texas, and Barbara Burgess, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, John Zachmeyer, and his wife, Sylvia, of Denton, Texas; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, George Zachmeyer, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; two sisters, Patricia Ritz, and her husband, Dale, of Bonaparte, Iowa, and Mable Byers, and her husband, Don, of Lockridge, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He entered the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then returned to Iowa and Minnesota where he farmed during the day and worked in a foundry during the night. He owned and operated a fence building business in Weatherford, Texas for a number of years, and later worked at Zee-Zee Amusement Park. He had continued to work as a builder, handyman, and mechanic throughout his life. He had a fascination with tractors, which he loved. He also liked listening to country music, and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was a very determined person who always did things his way.
Paul was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
