Pauline Long's Obituary
Pauline Mae Long, daughter of William Harrison and Leola Belle (Claxton) Adamson, was born March 10, 1927, near Mansfield, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, October 12, 2006, in Truman Healthcare and Rehab Center, in Lamar, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, seven months, and two days. On June 7, 1944 she was united in marriage to Vencie Laverne Long, and to this union a daughter and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vencie, on November 26, 1989; her parents; a sister, Shirley Vanderpool; and a brother, Ronall Adamson. Pauline is survived by a daughter, Joyce Zimmerman, of Gladstone, Missouri; two sons, Larry Long, and his wife, Sue, and Bill Long, and his wife, Becky, all of Lamar, Missouri; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Geleta Adams, of Nixa, Missouri; two brothers, Lowell Adamson, of Springfield, Missouri, and Rex Adamson, of Joplin, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Wolf Creek Community, where she attended Wolf Creek and Coldwater Schools. She graduated from Hartville High School in the Class of 1944. After she and Vencie were married they made their home on the family farm in the Jerktail Community. Pauline had made her profession of faith in Christ, and was a longtime member of New Home Free Will Baptist Church and had served as the church clerk, a Sunday school teacher, and also played the piano. She was a very giving and caring person and loved spending time with her family and helping her husband on the farm. She was a great cook and an excellent seamstress. In her spare time she enjoyed reading to her grandchildren, studying her Bible, and loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers. Each family member and friend will always hold precious memories of the unique and special ways she touched their lives. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2006, in New Home Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3-5:00p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri. Memorial contributions to New Home Cemetery may be made through the funeral home.
