Pearl Brendel's Obituary
Lucy Pearl Brendel, daughter of John William and Lucy Lee Roden Fisher, was born October 13, 1913, near Cookville, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, February 23, 2006, in the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, in Clinton, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, four months, and ten days. Her parents, and twelve brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Pearl is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Brendel) Walsh, and her husband, Tom, of Traverse City, Michigan; two sons, John Brendel, and his wife, Jean, of Clinton, Missouri, and Lee W. Brendel, and his wife, Peggy, of Springfield, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born the thirteenth of thirteen children into the Fisher family, and was raised in the Cookville and Richland, Missouri area. She continued to make her home in the Richland community until moving to Lebanon in 1947. Throughout the years Pearl was a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her family, and also worked as a waitress at the Bond Drug Store in downtown Lebanon for many years. Pearl made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of First Christian Church in Lebanon. She attended the Joy Sunday School Class and the Deborah Circle for as long as her health allowed. She was a fifty year member of the V.F.W. Post # 4107 Ladies Auxiliary in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, and reading. She possessed a delightful but droll sense of humor and loved to laugh. She liked going places and was particularly fond of dining out. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren. Pearl was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2006, in the First Christian Church, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
