She was born and raised, along with her fifteen brothers and sisters, in the Stoutland area, and attended Stoutland High School until 1944. At age eighteen, she moved with her sister, Sarah, better known as “Dutchie”, to Kansas City. On September 2, 1950, Faye was united in marriage to William Poje, and they made their home in Kansas City, Kansas for twenty-five years. In addition to being a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her family, Faye also worked for the Boilermaker’s Union for several years. Faye, who was also lovingly known as “Aunt Puddie”, made her home in various locations to be closer to her children, before retiring to Lebanon in the mid 1980’s. Faye made her profession of faith in Christ at the age of nine and was a member of Idumea Baptist Church for many years. Later in life, she attended Southern Heights Christian Church in Lebanon. She had a very deep and abiding faith in God and held fast to that throughout the years. In her spare time she enjoyed doing word puzzles and watching television, especially her favorite game shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing and particularly liked gospel and bluegrass music. She also dearly loved her dachshund dog, “Doc”. Her family was most important to her and was happiest when her family was with her. Faye was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. She enjoyed life to the fullest and always wanted to help others.
