Peggy Courtney (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mrs. Peggy Ann Courtney, age 78 of Springfield, MO passed away at 7:30 AM Wednesday, May 08, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield after a brief illness.
She was born near Fair Play in Polk County Missouri on December 17, 1934 the daughter of Thomas Amos Claypool and Blanche Neva (Neill) Claypool.
Peggy's life, like all, was lived in stages. As a young woman, she married her best friend and they have remained steadfast friends for over 60 years. She was a supportive Air Force wife, living in Hawaii, Pakistan and Japan when not stationed in San Antonio, TX.
Peggy was an avid, competitive golfer, winning multiple competitions on many Air Force bases. In later years, she was an unwavering Lady Bear fan, and always a true Cardinal baseball fanatic.
In retirement, she enjoyed camping trips in the RV. Throughout her life, Peggy has been a loving mother to many people-puppies. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend. The world is a little less interesting and bright without her in it.
Surviving Peggy is her husband Harmon L. Courtney of the couples home in Springfield MO, two sons, Roy Courtney of Springfield, MO and Randy Countney and wife Mary Ann of Aldrich, MO. Her three grandsons, Ron Courtney, Bryan Courtney and Dustin Courtney.
The family would also like to thank all the great nurses and staff at Mercy Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Richard Cunningham, who took part in her care over the last few weeks.
