Peggy Jo Gibbs (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Peggy Jo Gibbs, daughter of John Wesley and Myrtle Reid Wimberly, was born June 26, 1948, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, October 28, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, four months and two days.
On April 4, 1980, she was united in marriage to Howard Gibbs, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2018.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerald O’Dell; two great-grandsons, Koden Stubbs, and Jessie Hicks; two brothers, Tommy and Raymond Wimberly; and a sister, Lillian “Faye” Singleton.
Peggy is survived by a daughter, Kelly Conn, and her husband, Marty, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Kenneth Nunn, and his wife, Crystal, and Russell “Scott” O’Dell, and his wife, Trudy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Aldridge, Nikki Nunn, Jo Ann O’Dell, Robert Huff, Kayd Nunn, Alyssa Deckard, Gage Nunn, Aaron O’Dell, and Lincoln Nunn; eight great-grandchildren, Bentley Stubbs, Khylie Stubbs, Payzlee Nunn, Jeffery O’Dell, Madison O’Dell, Gabby O’Dell, Matthew Hicks, and Trenton Hicks; a sister, Barbara Bates, of Bates City, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Mary Kathryn Wimberly, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised as a country girl that milked cows and worked on the farm. She was a devoted homemaker to her family and lovingly raised her children. She also helped raise some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was employed by Tracker Marine for twenty-five years.
Peggy had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of the Lighthouse Ministry Center, near Lebanon.
She liked to hunt, going to auctions, yard sales and thrift shops. She enjoyed shopping for antiques. She liked working in her garden and growing beautiful flower beds. She also grew the best tomatoes. She liked to play the guitar and sing, and was good at refinishing furniture. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at the funeral home.
