Peggy Lou Gilden (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Peggy Lou Gilden, 77, of Bolivar, MO passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Peggy was born December 30, 1940 to Elijah and Thelma McCarthy Wilson. When she was just 5 years old, her family would move from their home in California and settle on a farm in Bolivar. Growing up, Peggy always loved to be outside. She could be found anywhere from the yard, where she loved to feed and watch the birds, to working on the farm. She was also a skilled gardener.
As an adult, her love of the outdoors continued. She loved to hunt for mushrooms, and was always sure to find the biggest batch of anyone. She enjoyed deer hunting as well, and even though she never killed one, it always brought her joy to sit in a tree stand and enjoy nature.
When Peggy could be found indoors, she loved to make quilts for her family. She made many over the years. She also enjoyed refurbishing old furniture back to new. In her later years, as much as she had enjoyed the outdoors, she found great joy in spending time inside.
Peggy did her best to stay involved in the community, and helped whenever she could. She enjoyed carrying around $2 bills, which she had the bank special order for her. She handed them out just to see the confused looks on people’s faces when they saw the bill for the first time.
Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her light will not soon be forgotten.
Arrangements for Peggy Gilden are incomplete at this time and will be announced by the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO.
