Peggy P. Harmon (Buffalo)'s Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Peggy P. Harmon, age 87, on December 16, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Peggy was born on December 15, 1937, on the Niangua River in Camden County, Missouri to Paul and Dona Whitworth. She graduated from Tunas High School where she excelled at basketball. After graduation, she met the love of her life, Russell Harmon, and they married in 1956. They moved to Independence, Missouri and together they were blessed with three daughters, Paula, Penny, and Pamela, and one son, Jeffrey.
Peggy had many adventures traveling throughout the country for Russell’s work while raising their family.
Peggy was a devoted homemaker and mother who was strong, capable and loving. Peggy spent a great deal of time caring for her beloved grandchildren. They especially loved going fishing, riding the gator, and working on puzzles.
Peggy had a passion for bowling, gardening, reading romance novels, and fishing. She also enjoyed taking weekend trips to the casinos with her husband and friends. Peggy and Russell enjoyed their retirement at Truman Lake in Warsaw, MO for many wonderful years. Peggy moved to Lee’s Summit, MO in her final months, cherishing the precious time spent together near her loved ones.
Peggy is survived by her children, Paula Eickhoff, Penny McKinney and her husband Karl, Jeff Harmon and his wife Alicia, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell of 65 years, her parents, her sister, Martha Bishop, and her daughter, Pamela Harmon.
A visitation and memorial service honoring Peggy will be held at Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, MO on Saturday, December 21. Visitation Noon-1:00pm Service 1:00pm. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church.
