Peggy J Howard (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Peggy Jo Howard, daughter of Kenneth and Ruth Riley Marcum, was born December 27, 1940, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, August 20, 2022, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, seven months, and twenty-five days.
On June 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to Melvin T. Watson, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. Melvin passed away on October 19, 1983.
Later, Peggy married Don Howard and they shared several years before his passing.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl Marcum; a sister, Janet Lewis; and a special sister-in-law, Phyllis Marcum.
Peggy is survived by a daughter, Tammy Stephens, and her husband, Ed, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Ted Watson, and his wife, Jeannette, of Fair Grove, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Travis, Daren, Heather, Dede, Nicki, Jimmy, and Katie; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Leer, and her husband, Dwight, of Readstown, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Lebanon area and attended Lebanon R-III Schools. After she and Melvin were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their family. She was employed as a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company for several years and was also a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She later worked for The Picket Fence store for a few years. Once she and Don were married, they made their home in Lebanon, Missouri, and later she moved to Marshfield, Missouri.
Peggy followed the Baptist faith throughout her life and during her younger years attended Berean Baptist Church. Later on she attended Grace Bible Church.
She enjoyed doing ceramics and painting dolls, but her real passion was for quilting. She loved Elvis Presley and enjoyed his music. Her life rotated around her family and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
