Peggy Jenkins' Obituary
Peggy Katherine Jenkins, daughter of Oliver and Georgia West Gourley, was born February 16, 1939, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, February 28, 2010, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, and twelve days. On October 1, 1980, she was united in marriage to Willie M. Jenkins, and they shared the last twenty-nine years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Eade; a son, Walter Lee Arnold; two brothers, Sidney and Murle Gourley; and a sister, Betty Pulliam. Peggy is survived by her husband, Willie, of the home; three sons, Larry Arnold, and his wife, Bonnie, of Eldridge, Missouri, Charles Arnold, and his wife, Kay, of California, Missouri, and John Young, of Eldridge, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Jonathan Eade, Robert Eade, Eric Young, Jake Young, Tyler Young, Larry Wayne Arnold, II, Kelly Arnold, Keith O’Niel, Bobby Arnold, and Summar Vaughn; a number of great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Gourley, of Centralia, Missouri; a sister, Naomi Arnold, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School. She attended cosmetology school, earned her cosmetologist license, and then worked as a beautician with Betty Wagoner for several years. She continued to make her home in Lebanon and was a devoted homemaker to her family. After she and Willie were married, they lived in the Lebanon area and Peggy traveled some with Willie on his truck routes. Peggy had professed her faith in Christ and attended Harvest Tabernacle – United Pentecostal Church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and quilting, and particularly liked making baby quilts for all the grandchildren. She centered her life around her family and her church, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 1, 2010 at the Holman - Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
