Peggy Sparlin (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Peggy (Gates) Sparlin was born December 27, 1934, in a log cabin her father built in the mining town of Summitville, Colorado. She grew up in Monte Vista, Colorado, with brothers Ken, Maynard and Lonnie and her twin sister, Barbara. Peggy and Barbara were always close through letters, phone calls and visits.
After Peggy and Darrell married, they moved with their children Glenn, Ellen and Cindy to Wright County, Missouri, to own and operate a dairy farm. Peggy was a gentle and kind caregiver to all animals. She welcomed her children and grandchildren who enjoyed visiting the farm, where she said there was never a dull moment.
Though Peggy worked long hours, she enjoyed crafts: sewing, floral arrangements and embroidered baby quilts to give to new mothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Theda Gates, her three brothers, an infant sister and step-son, Doug Sparlin.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Darrell; children, Glenn (Carol) Sparlin, Ellen (Danny) Pilkington and Cindy (Ronnie) Rohwer; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara; nieces, Melinda and Debbie, and a nephew, Maynard Jr.
She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who loved her.
