Peter O'Leary (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Peter William O’Leary, 85 years old, passed away on August 11, 2022, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 12, 1937, to Katherine Moriarty and Louis O’Leary. He was employed as an electrical engineer for several defense contractors during his career and was especially proud of the time he served on aircraft carriers during the Vietnam war as a civilian contractor supporting the technology onboard. He was also heavily involved in development of the Tomahawk cruise missile, and he literally wrote the book on its operation.
He enjoyed reading, especially history books, watching movies and listening to music. Woody Allen, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Elton John, and Queen were some of his favorite artists. He had a life-long love of sports cars, and raced cars in his 20s. He played banjo in a jazz band on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. He imparted a love of Monty Python, a good steak, and Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream on his daughters.
He is preceded in death by his sister Marcia and is survived by his sister Patricia, his children Katrina and Kerstin, and his grandchildren Nicholas, Thomas, Megan, Brandi and Kelly.
