Phyllis Cox's Obituary
Phyllis Jeane Cox, daughter of Raleigh and Wilma Linder Davis, was born September 4, 1945, near Ava, Missouri, and departed this life on November 13, 2009, in Rocky Ridge Manor, Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, two months and nine days. On December 26, 1965, she was united in marriage to Paul Cox and together they have shared nearly forty-four years. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Larry Davis. She is survived by her husband, Paul of the home; her mother, Wilma Davis of Mansfield, Missouri; a brother, David Davis and his wife Laura of Naples, Texas; three nieces, Tammy Wilbanks and her husband Carl of West Plains, Missouri, Kim Hinton and her husband Robert of Event, Texas and Gina Swisher and her husband Andy of Mansfield, Missouri; one nephew, Michael Davis and his wife Allison of Battlefield, Missouri; several great-nieces and great-nephews; her mother-in-law, Myrl Cox; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Lansdown and her husband Ronnie, and Jean Cox all of Ava, Missouri; as well as other relatives and many friends. Phyllis grew up in Ava and Norwood and was a graduate of the Norwood High School Class of 1963. After graduating, she moved with her family to Mansfield and started working as a dental assistant for Dr. A.M. McQuay. She worked for Doc McQuay for twenty-nine years and then for Dr. Richard Grubbs for seven years when her illness forced her to retire. She had made her profession of faith in Christ and had attended the Mansfield Christian Church until her health would not permit it. In her spare time Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and making BIG chocolate chips cookies. Phyllis was a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m Sunday November 15, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
