Phyllis Marlin's Obituary
Phyllis Eliza Marlin, daughter of Edward and Clara (Miller) Barnhouse was born March 26, 1921, near Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, June 14, 2009, in St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln, Illinois. On June 25, 1958, Phyllis was united in marriage to Edward M. Marlin and they shared almost forty-four years before his passing on January 3, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, George Barnhouse, June Wolfe, Jack Barnhouse, Joe Barnhouse, and Guy Barnhouse; and a brother-in-law, A.J. Marlin. Phyllis is survived by a son, Kim Plaster, and his wife, Jeanette, of Sherman, Illinois; a daughter, Libby Webb, and her husband, Michael, of Yorktown, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jason Plaster, and his wife, Cara, of O’Fallon , Missouri, Aaron Plaster, of St. Louis, Missouri, Christopher Webb and Katie Webb, both of Yorktown, Virginia; a brother, Max Barnhouse, of Harlingen, Texas; a sister-in-law, Geneve Marlin, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She grew up in Springfield, Missouri, and graduated from Central High School in the Class of 1939. She moved to the Seymour area and later married Ed and worked at the Royal-McBee Typewriter Company in Springfield and then at the H.D. Lee Company in Seymour until her retirement. Phyllis had accepted Christ as her personal Savior and followed the Baptist faith throughout her life. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and entertaining her friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish all the memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday June 18, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday evening 6:30-7:30pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. Return to top
