Phyllis R. Butcher's Obituary
Phyllis Ronea Jerred Butcher, daughter of Rollin A. and Myra May Custer Jerred, was born May 11, 1950, in Pickstown, South Dakota. She entered her eternal rest on Friday, September 28, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, following a long and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of fifty-seven years, four months, and eighteen days. On March 30, 1978, she was united in marriage to Ervin Curtis Butcher, Jr., and together they shared the last twenty-nine years. Her maternal and paternal grandparents preceded her in death. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Ervin, of the home; her parents, Rollin and Myra Jerred, of Conway, Missouri; a brother, Bob Jerred, and his wife, Carla, of Griffith, Indiana; a sister, Catherine Rannow, of Conway, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, including a very special great-nephew, Jerred Carroll, of Orion, Illinois; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Thelma Healy, of the State of Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Linda Patterson, of the State of Arkansas; two lifetime friends, Tina Dutton, of Electra, Texas, and Mary Thomson, of Rock Island, Illinois; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was raised in various places while her father worked in construction, and then graduated from Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana. After she and Ervin were married, they first made their home in Quad Cities, Illinois. Most of their married years were spent in the Moline, Illinois area. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband, Phyllis also worked as a floral arranger and assistant in a greenhouse for several years. Phyllis had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Crossroads Christian Center Assembly of God in Moline, Illinois. In her spare time she enjoyed doing craft projects, arranging flowers, photography, and reading. Her family was very dear to her, and she enjoyed visiting with them and also talking with her friends on the telephone. Phyllis was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2007, in the Crossroads Christian Center Assembly of God Church in Moline, Illinois.
