Ramona Patterson's Obituary
Ramona Marilyn Patterson, daughter of Clarence and Lois Koonce Kinnaird, was born January 19, 1926, near Bloodland, Missouri. She gently went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, May 1, 2010, in her son?s home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, three months, and twelve days. On March 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Dean Arden Patterson, and to this union five daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant son, Michael Dean Patterson. Marilyn is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Dean, of the home; five daughters, Donna McNiel, and her husband, Conley, Debbie Tracy, and her husband, Dean, all of Lynchburg, Missouri, Karen Sutlief, and her husband, Dan, of Amarillo, Texas, Kim Dick, and her husband, Gene, of Norman, Oklahoma, and Susan Patterson Atanasov, and her husband, Lubo, of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Arden Patterson, and his wife, Stacy, of Lebanon, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Cody, Landon, Kelli, Kari, Kristi, Clint, Jami, Bailey, Nathan, Evie, Kate, Izzy, and Vivi; thirteen great-grandchildren, Levi, Tylor, Cole, Lexi, Logan, Brody, Cayler, Joel, Marshall, Tanner, Kinsley, Bryce, and Kelsi; a brother, Ronnie Kinnaird, of Bandon, Oregon; a sister, Dorothy Jo Gallo, and her husband, Steve, of Columbia, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; her brothers and sisters in Christ at Mount Carney Christian Church; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Bloodland and Roby, Missouri areas. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia for one year. During World War II, she worked at a munitions factory in St. Louis. Once she and Dean were married, they made their home in the Falcon, Missouri area, and lovingly raised their family. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Marilyn also worked as a payroll clerk at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for several years. Marilyn professed her faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of Mount Carney Christian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, worked in Vacation Bible School, and was particularly involved in the ladies group and the Monday Night Bible Study Group. She was responsible for printing the church bulletin for years, and often hosted ministers in her home on weekends. She centered her life around her family and her church and relied upon her strong faith in God to help her through whatever came her way. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 4, 2010 at the Mt. Carney Christian Church. Burial is in the Mt. Carney Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
