Ransom Carvel's Obituary
Ransom Clay Carvel, son of Henry and Mary Jane Davis Carvel, was born February 26, 1933, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, October 10, 2011, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, seven months, and fourteen days.
On March 3, 1959, he was united in marriage to Glenna Gay Green, and to this union three daughters and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, William, James, Charles, Richard, and Georgie Carvel; and three sisters, Eva Williams, Jenny Hermes, and Laura May Thelander.
Ransom is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Glenna, of the home; a son, Randall Carvel, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Glenna Cress, and her husband, Steve, of Conway, Missouri, Rebecca Burns, and her husband, Phillip, and Lisa Sheppard, and her husband, Chris, all of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Steven, Louise, Charles, Stephanie, Nancy, and Alexandra; three great-grandchildren, Brenden, Manny, and Isabella; a sister, Liza Seberson, of Omaha, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and attended Millcreek School. After he and Glenna were married, they made their home near Lebanon, Missouri, and lovingly raised their family. Ransom worked in building construction for Howard Construction Company for several years. He then worked at Independent Stave Company before going to the H. D. Lee Company, from which he eventually retired. Throughout the years, he was a hard worker and never missed a day of work.
Ransom had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of Community Baptist Church near Lebanon.
He enjoyed attending auctions, fishing, and visiting with his friends. He was very proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage and liked studying about it. He was a very respectful and polite man and was extremely dedicated to his family.
Ransom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
