Ray Lee Turner (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ray Lee Turner, son of Boyce and Wilma Wright Turner, was born September 18, 1943, in Lampasas, Texas. He departed this life Thursday, November 21, 2019, in Bentonview Park Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Monett, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, two months, and three days.
On May 30, 1997, he was united in marriage to Tammy R. See, and they shared the last twenty-two years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sylvia.
Ray is survived by his wife, Tammy, of the home, near Conway, Missouri; a great-niece, Crystal Christen, of Lebanon, Missouri; two great-nephews, Clayton Whitmire, and Reggie McElroy, both of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Lampasas, Texas and then joined the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army in a career that spanned twenty years. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and one in Germany. He was the head of the Horse Platoon, at Fort Hood, Texas for several years. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a ferrier in various places including Waldo, Wisconsin for fifteen years. He and Tammy had made their home in the Conway, Missouri community for the last few years.
Ray was raised in the Baptist faith and had established his own personal relationship with his Lord and Savior.
He loved animals, especially horses and dogs. He enjoyed training horses as a hobby. He was very fortunate to receive a kidney transplant which changed his life drastically.
Ray was a loving family man, a dedicated soldier, a hard worker and a patriotic citizen. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Ray will be buried in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, near Waynesville, Missouri, at a later date, under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
