Ray Worley (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ivan Ray Worley, son of Ivan and Ethel Stewart Worley, was born August 24, 1936, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, nine months, and fifteen days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lynn Worley; and two brothers, an infant, Edward, and Bill Worley.
Ray is survived by two sons, Ed Worley, and his wife, Susan, of Chana, Illinois, and Keith Worley, of Rochelle, Illinois; two daughters, Peggy Worley, of Palm Coast, Florida, and Christine Van Dyke, and her husband, Keith, of Crawfordsville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Jennifer Peterson, Jamie Deets, Adam Aurand, Michael Worley, and his wife, Kristen, Danielle Worley, and Benjamin Worley, and his wife, Lauren; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Peterson, and Mykhala Aurand; a brother, Bob Worley, of Rockford, Illinois; a sister, Caroline Ogle, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area. In 1955, he moved to Rochelle, Illinois where he began working for Swift and Company in 1962. He continued in that employ until the plant closed in 1980. He then moved to Iowa for a few years before retiring and eventually moved to Lebanon twelve years ago. Roy was a member of the United Packing Workers Local # 787, and was a union steward in his department for a number of years.
Ray had made his profession of faith in Christ and had attended Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, near Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, hunting, and panning for gold. His family was very important to him.
Ray was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
