Raymond Davolt's Obituary
Mr. Raymond Claude Davolt, age 93, long time resident of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2011 at Wilshire at Lakewood in Lee?s Summit, Missouri.
He was born October 20, 1917 in Ethel, Missouri to Claude Leslie Davolt and Mabel (Lewis) Davolt.
Raymond retired as a shipping clerk in 1993, having worked for Sunshine Biscuit Company in Kansas City, Kansas for 40 years. He was a long time member of the Norfleet Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Raymond was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers, Ervin, Virgil, Russell, Orla, Fred and Hildra Davolt.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary Francis Davolt of the home, his children: Raymond Max Davolt and his wife Joyce of Fair Play, Missouri, Leta Porter and her husband Glen of Greenwood, Missouri, James E. Davolt and his wife Shelly of Independence, Missouri, his sister, Evelyn Sergent of Columbia, Missouri, a brother-in-law, Tommy Tindle and his wife Bonnie of Fair Play, Missouri, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Norfleet Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri with Pastor Scott Flippin officiating. Musical selections will be ?It Is Well With My Soul?, ?He Touched Me?, and ?What A Friend We Have In Jesus? sung by Steve White and Friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Pastor Maurice Cox officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am prior to service time at the funeral home. Musical selections will be ?Precious Memories? and ?One Day At A Time? sung by Steve White being accompanied by Jackie Vincent. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery just South of Fair Play, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Barry Davolt, Kelly Moore, Victor Parra, Jeff Porter, Rick Sunderman and Marty Tindle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Raymond C. Davolt to the Norfleet Baptist Church, designated for the sound system, 5512 Norfleet Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64133-3199.
