Raymond Lyle Hughes (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Raymond Lyle Hughes, 91 of Bolivar, Missouri passed away after a short illness on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born in Humansville, MO on May 1, 1930 to Otis Lyle and Lucy Jeanette (Womble) Hughes on the family farms.
Raymond graduated from Humansville High School then worked several jobs in the Kansas City area, then at the Humansville Cheese Factory and then Dayco in Springfield, MO where he remained until his retirement after 31 years. Raymond enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for many years for Dayco in the Kansas City area, Collins, Bolivar and in Springfield. He had tournament success for the Collins and Springfield teams. After his playing days were over, he moved to Bolivar with his wife Doris and son David to a small farm east of town, where he raised cattle and enjoyed being outdoors. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Darrell, Don and Virgil Hughes; his brother and sister-in-law, Delbert and Joan Copenhaver. He is survived by his wife, Doris M. (Truitt) Hughes of the home; son, David, Pleasant Hope; granddaughters, Megan and Leigh Ann; and sister-in-law, Joyce Hughes of Humansville, MO. Services for Raymond will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Humansville Cemetery in Humansville, MO. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or American Diabetes Association.
