Raymond Otis Looney (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Raymond Otis Looney, son of Charley and Leola McGuire Looney, was
born January 11, 1945, near Decaturville, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday,
December 27, 2014, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of
sixty-nine years, eleven months, and sixteen days.
On February 5, 1966, he was united in marriage to Fern Boha
nnon, and to this union two daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Rock; and a sister, Virginia Gregory.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Fern, of the
home; one daughter, Ramona Lucas, and her husband, Danny, of Strafford,
Missouri; four grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Christina, and Ethan; a
brother, Lester Looney, and his wife, Judy, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces
and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Decaturville community, and graduated from
Lebanon High School. After he and Fern were married, they made their home in
the Lebanon area for a few years, and then moved to Strafford, Missouri, where
they finished raising their daughters. Raymond was employed by the Zenith
Corporation in Springfield for twenty-four years, and then worked in the
Environmental Services Department at Mercy Hospital for the last fourteen years.
Raymond had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of
Strafford Church of Christ.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities
were deer and turkey hunting, and fishing. He liked watching television and
especially the game show “Price Is Right”. He was very family oriented and
greatly enjoyed his grandchildren. He possessed a delightful sense of humor, and
loved to laugh, tease and joke with people.
Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, un
cle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know
that his family and friends will treasure the memories he made for them during his lifetime.
A memorial has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
