Raymond Morrison (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Raymond Andrew Morrison, son of Roy Andrew and Hettie Sullivan Morrison, was born March 17, 1923, in Atwood, Tennessee. He departed this life Friday, December 6, 2013, in his home, near Lynchburg, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, eight months, and nineteen days.
On December 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Billie Nell Spikes, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie, on November 13, 2012; an infant daughter, Patricia Morrison; and two sisters, Ella Fisher, and Frances Beatle.
Raymond is survived by a son, Kevin Morrison, and his wife, Penny, of Lynchburg, Missouri; a daughter, Karen Wright, and her husband, David, of Hermitage, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brian, Bradly, Heather, MacKenzie, Jack, and Nicole; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Braxton, Austyn, Nicole, Cash and Myles; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Tennessee and then moved with his family to Baudette, Minnesota when he was seven years old. As a young man he joined the United States Navy, and served his country faithfully during World War II. While stationed in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area, he met Billie and they were married in 1947. From 1953 until 1973, they made their home in Spring Valley, California, where they lovingly raised their family. Raymond operated a backhoe service for most of that time. In 1973, the family moved to the Lynchburg, Missouri community and purchased a dairy farm. Raymond and Billie worked together in the operation of the farm for many years.
Raymond had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of the Plato Baptist Church. He had also attended Pine Creek Baptist Church.
He enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting. He liked working on the farm and was very fond of his John Deere tractor. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Raymond was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated farmer, and a good friend to many.
