Raymond Walters' Obituary
Raymond Francis Walters, son of David and Sylvia Thomas Walters, was born September 7, 1924, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, December 14, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, three months, and seven days. In 1946, he was united in marriage to Goldie Nadine Smith, and to this union five daughters and one son were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Sylvia Jean Kunkle, and Patty Eriksen; a son, Raymond Walters, Jr.; a brother, Claude Walters; and a sister, Freda Walters. Raymond is survived by his wife, Goldie, of the home; three daughters, Barbara Dunker, and her husband, Harold, of Lebanon, Missouri, Faye Weers, of Cole Camp, Missouri, and Freda Young, and her husband, Mark, of Independence, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Ginger Dunker, of the home; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, David Walters, Sr., of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School. In the early 1940’s, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he made his home for most of his life. He worked as a truck driver for many years, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He had recently returned to the Lebanon community. Raymond had made his profession of faith in Christ and had established his own personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. He was a very private person that kept his thoughts and his feelings close to himself. Raymond will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday December 18, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will begian at 12:00 p.m. until time of service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
